2020 Holiday Gifts Books & Soap
This has been the weirdest year. Full of emotions, strong opinions and just general feelings of unsettledness. I find that during the holidays it makes it more difficult managing all the “THINGS”. Unwrapping all the boxes getting delivered to the house, wrapping the gifts, planning out menus and checking off the never ending to do lists. Adding to clutter (mental and physical) is not the way to go during the holiday and I always need the reminder to keep it Simple for myself and my family.
Every year, I always recommend books and a bar of soap for a simple gift. I don’t ever consider stacks of book clutter and who doesn’t need a good non-toxic bar of soap right now in their lives. Plus adding the soap to your book gift makes the pages smell even better. I personally love the Lavender Oat and have been cranking out a good steady inventory along with the Christmas tree soaps.
For kids, my family loves the “Who Was/Where Is/ What Is” books. My 7yo son also loves Dan Guttman books – he does some great historical and baseball time travel books. I think the Lily Huckleberry books are adorb girls for little girls and inspire travel. I also added the Mr. Rogers “Hello Neighbor” picture book that we loved.
I’ve curated this list of books I’ve either read, bought for my children, gifted or are high on my wish list for this year. Please please please buy small and local! I know I linked it all on Amazon, but if you can please order through your local brick and mortar book store. Gathering Volumes is one I know of in Toledo and carries the Eat. Sleep. Move. Breathe. which is written by a local Toledo artist.
